National Being You Day

One of my favorite quotes just so happens to be on a tee shirt that I bought a couple years back from a company called Olive & Frank. It says “be you not them”. The words are very simple, but the message is quite complex. Like most young impressionable girls, I always tried to fit in with others growing up. As I have gotten older, I care less about what other people think and more about bettering myself. I think that is what life is all about — being the best you because at the end of the day, you are the only one in control of your choices.

Luckily, I have this shirt to remind me of this. I hope that when I wear this shirt it also gives others the confidence and encouragement to do the same! Even without this tee shirt, when I am putting an outfit together, I think about how I want to feel wearing it. I want to send a clear message that my choices are purposeful and I am happy with how I present myself!

Being you is not only about the way you dress, it is also your actions. Remember, what you think is cool, funny, and pretty does not have to go with the majority. If you stand behind it, it should make you feel good and that’s what matters!
